Even though it was halfway into March, there was a flu bug floating around a couple of weeks ago. I've been extremely lucky when it comes to illness--I've never had the flu, or anything worse than the chicken pox when I was in first grade. If you ignore alcohol-induced sickness, the worst I've had to deal with in the past ten years is the occasional sinus infection. So I'm not sure what it was that I got. It might have been the flu, but it was nasty for only a couple of days. I felt sort of meh one day, the next day I had chills, the day after I had a fever, but the day after that it settled down into just a cold. I still don't know what it was; I didn't take anything but my usual medicine--lots of orange juice and lots of sleep.
As is always the case, I came down with whatever that was on the exact weekend of a chorus concert. It wasn't nearly as big a deal as our last one--we didn't have to show up at 8:30 in the morning to set up. This one was primarily for my high school's chorus. Chorus D (Duniwassal) joined in for its set, but the high school chorus sang before and after us. Their full chorus sang, as well as different arrangements of the boys and girls. In all, they sang for a solid hour, compared to our mere ten minutes.
I had a bona fide fever and a sore throat, so you can imagine how much fun the concert was for me. I cowboyed up, especially because the group unanimously voted me the one to give our introduction again. In spite of the bug I had, it was a lot of fun. I had to pass on the obligatory party, but I wish I'd made it, since the group went to Roxy, the "American" restaurant.
Lately I'm getting tired of Japanese food. I can't quite put my finger on what it is I don't like, but with all the school parties we've been having, we're getting the same courses at the same round of restaurants. Maybe I just don't like those restaurants. I definitely don't like sashimi. I'll eat it; it doesn't disgust me (unless it's still alive). There's just nothing about the taste that appeals to me. Most of it tastes the same to me, and that similar taste is bland.
Oh, I found out more about the still-living spiny lobster whose back people were eating out of at that party. There are quite a few clips on Youtube about it, but this one looks exactly like what they served us.
