With that last post, I think I'm officially caught up on all the big goings-on around here. I posted more in the past two weeks than I have since I've been here. I owe this to the extensive down-time afforded me by spring break. While I've still had to come to school, there's been absolutely nothing on the agenda, leaving me time to tinker with next year's lessons, and blog.
I've found out my new schedule! I'm going to my small high school on Thursdays instead of Wednesdays (and still going on Tuesdays, too), but there won't be a first-year English Oral Communication class this year. Instead, I'll be helping with the first-years' grammar class. I'm not sure what that'll entail, but I'm excited about it. I'll be teaching an elective writing class with four of the third-year students, who are from last year's second-year class, which I taught. I'm the most excited, however, about the new second years. I'll be teaching an OC class, just like last year, with the same students I had for their first year, and with the same teacher, who happens to be my favorite. That means that I'll have a much better idea of what to expect, and I'll be fully justified in jabbing at the kids if they forget something I know for certain I taught them already.
At my main high school, it'll be the same schedule as last year: eight subgroups made from the top four classes of first-years, a small class of second-years, and two huge groups of the lowest-level third-years. The teachers' grade levels have shuffled a little, though only one English teacher was lost outright, so it'll be like starting over. This, combined with getting to continue with the same group at my small high school, should make the dynamic completely different in each of my classes. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm done blogging for the day, but I want to mention some things before I forget them, so I'm only going to briefly highlight what else has been going on. I'm a huge fan of The Wire now, I loved Juno, and I enjoyed No Country for Old Men (though I can't figure out how it won Best Picture--was the field that weak?). I'm getting a car, if for no other reason than to help out when the newbies arrive in July. I think I came down with the flu, though I only had a fever for a day, then it settled down to basically a cold. The cherry blossoms are a-blossoming, and they're certainly pretty.
I chipped a filling the other day, on a Starburst I found, of all things. I can only hope I don't die of caries before my next appointment in August.
